Tumblr: Do you know what you do..?

gaypauli:

The LGBTIQ* community, the BDSM communities, so many have used tumblr to become creative. With an endless network of postings, we created in the last years the world’s largest exchange of LGBTIQ* and BDSM content.

And it is not about posting some pictures. It is about an enormous wonderful force of empowerment, we all have created in this last decade.

I have a number of different tumblr blogs, most of them nsfw. I curated them for over 6 years. Within this time, there was an endless number of chats with great amazing people. Young and old, from all different backgrounds. I remember the 70-year-old gay man that asked me if it is still ‘worthy’ to come out (Yes of course!), the young trans teenager that needed comfort, there was this couple that inspired me and I could inspire them. There were people asking for help and others to give me help or to inspire me…

In these years I have seen so many wonderful Trans*personalities grow, I was amazed to see how the gay communities started to post gay porn with trans*men, I was empowered by the many fat and body positive activists, I was deeply touched by the commitment of BDSM players…

Tumblr is and was not about posting some pictures: We have taken this platform and transformed it into the world’s biggest LGBTIQ*/BDSM empowerment tool in the world.

Tumblr’s plans will do much more harm than just destroying the work of many… It is taking away empowerment and safety for many who need it.

In the last years, many of us have tried to speak to tumblr: we all found a lot of extremely violent content, Nazi-content, anti-semitic content, and a lot of child abuse content. Tumblr never listened. Tumblr: you failed all these years. And now again! In destroying our work! The world’s largest empowerment for all us kinksters, lovers, humans.

We will find new ways how to come together and how to support us. I don’t see any future for you, tumblr.
