Today’s aesthetic: negotiating the tension between the stark truth that any form of centralised bureaucracy unavoidably invites and facilitates the abuse of power, and the fact that a great many people’s day-to-day survival depends on institutions and infrastructures that can only be provided by a centralised bureaucracy, to the extent that suggesting we can do without those infrastructures constitutes a suggestion that we can do without those people.
