Dozens of bomb threats have been reported across the country, sent to schools, businesses, media outlets and police, prompting several institutions and establishments into evacuating its buildings.
The bomb threats came in the form of spam emails demanding the recipients to make ransom payments in bitcoin.
Police were responding to threats reported in [Utah, Michigan, Florida, California, Illinois, Connecticut,] Iowa, Idaho, Oklahoma, [and] Massachusetts…. The New York Police Department, among other law enforcement agencies around the country, confirmed there have been several bomb threats made across the country, but notes that they are not considered “credible.”
